Bare Outlines from the work of Fishel Mael
The Tribal Standard of Asher was an Olive Tree.
The territory of Asher was known for producing Olive Oil in plenty.
Girls from Asher were highly regarded and were married off to the monarchs of Israel and the High Priests.
Olive oil is associated with virgins.
The Sages due to the pleasantness of their conduct and manners were compared to olive oil.
Olive oil symbolizes peace.
The characteristics of Asher were similar to those of olive oil: Pleasant, peaceful, well regarded.

The Blessing for Asher is interwoven with that of all Israel.
Yishuron is another name for Israel. It is especially linked with Asher.  The Tribe of Asher strove for the Unity of all Israel.
Asher is a unifier of all the tribes.

The pagan cult of the Asherah hints at possible negative aspects in the nature of Asher.
The Canaanites of Phoenican Sidon worshipped at the Asherah and their territory was within the region of Asher.
The Asherah cult involved trees.
Ashere was rich and well bequeathed and this was to be a source of temptation for him.
Pekah ben Ramaliayahu, one of the last kings of Israel,  was from the Tribe of Asher.
The Prophet Amos was from Asher.
The Hebrew term for Assyria is Ashur which is similar to the name for Asher. The Assyrians were known for their coarseness of character.
Both the pagan Asherah cult and uncouthness need to be extirpated.
The forefather of the Assyrians, Ashur, fled from the company of those who were building the Tower of Babel.   He was against that which lead to the nations being divided from each other.  Ashur (Assyria) and Asher (Israel) shared an instinct for unity with each other.
The Prophet Jonah was sent to prophecy against Ashur (Assyria). He himself on his mother's side came from Asher.

In the land of Asher most agriculture was horticulture (tree fruits) rather than market gardening and other farm work.
Asher made the act of eating a refined art.
The month of Shevet is the month of Asher. This month is propitious for correction and rectification.

Asher and Gad were to complement each other.
Asher was marked by love and refinement.

Other considerations:

(b) Nechama Sarah G. Nadborny wrote "The Twelve Dimensions of Israel", Jerusalem, 1995.

In this work the authoress gives samples of her own poetry and artwork in association with the different Tribes of Israel.
She also discusses the different characteristics of the Tribes based on  her own insights and learning and the teachings of Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh.
Below are a few notes that we considered worth noting from her analysis of the Tribe of Asher.

Asher was born to Zilpah, handmaiden of Leah.
Asher received something of the self-abnegation and acceptance of Leah.

The people of Asher we happy with their lot.
They did not show their age.

Asher had a gracious nobility.
Asher had sexual integrity. This enabled marriages to be performed without witnesses.
Those marrying into the tribe were checked for chastity, purity, integrity.

(c) Brit-Am Additions.
We agree with the above as far as we know.
We would however add the following:

Asher was also liable to intermix with the Canaanites.
Asher became a minority in his own land and dwelt amongst the non-Israelite pagans.

Judges 1:
31 Nor did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Acco or the inhabitants of Sidon, or of Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, or Rehob. 32 So the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.

These were the same Canaanite peoples who gave rise to Phoenician Civilization and Maritime Enterprise in which Israelite Tribes such as Asher participated.

Alongside natural virtue there was also a promiscuous tendency to Asher.
The men of Asher were to become famous as warriors.
Some similarity in character (as indicated by Fishel Mael) existed between Ashur (Assyria) and the Tribe of Asher.
