THE PROPHETIC FUTURE OF ISRAEL (Part Three)
by   Alexander Zephyr.

Continued from Part Two.

Part Three

Not everything will be going nice and easy for the Israelites, especially in the period prior to the coming of their Messiah and the beginning of the Messianic Age. The Rabbis of the Talmud prayed that they would be spared of the terrible experience of the tribulation of the 'dark days' which were to precede the coming of the Messiah. It was the time of Jacob's trouble, the pain of the pre-Messianic period, an unparalleled time in all Human history of distress, hatreds of the nations and bloody persecutions; the Great Day of unspeakable and intensive sufferings for the House of Israel; a time of trouble, such as has never been since there was a nation even to that same time.  Thank God, He will shorten those days and save Israel out of it!  The People of Israel will be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the Book of Life (Jeremiah 30:7; Daniel 12:1).

The culmination of Jacob's problems will be the attack of Gog and Magog at the beginning of the Messianic Era on the peaceful and defenseless People of Israel who just will have recently been gathered from the lands of their enemies where they had been in exile. Many evil nations of the World will join this war not only for the purpose of annihilating God's Chosen People and taking plunder, loot and spoil, but also to challenge God Almighty Himself.

'Why do the nations conspire and the people plot in vain?' The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them (Psalms 2:1-2, 4).

The Lord will not just laugh and scoff at them, but will destroy them:

'My wrath will be roused in anger, My fury will boil over, and in My zeal and fiery wrath I will consume them'. Instead of  victory and great spoil, the hordes of Gog, ironically, will find their graves in the Land of Israel (Ezekiel 38:18-18; 39:11).
It will be the last war in human history.

At that time, the nations of the World will understand that Israel was punished by the Almighty and sent into exile to the lands of their enemies due to their iniquity, for their unfaithfulness to their God. The purpose of those unprecedented sufferings will have been to purify the nation and make them repent and return to their Creator. The nations of the World will also know that God will have compassion and mercy on all the House of Israel; He will return the Captivity of Jacob, redeem and restore them to the Promised Land (Ezekiel 39:23-25). Our Merciful and Just God will say to the house of Israel, 'You are My People'; and Israel will gladly and joyfully respond, 'You are our God!' (Hosea 2:23). God will also let the nations know that anyone who harms Israel, harms 'My most precious possession'. The Prophet Zechariah put it this way, 'For whoever touches Israel, touches the apple of HIS eye' (Zechariah 2:8).

The World will marvel looking at the nation of Israel. What will have happened to this nation in front of their eyes in a short interval of time, the transformation that this nation will have experienced, will be beyond comprehension. Their faith in the God of Israel, the reunification of the Tribes, coming of the Messiah, victories in wars, establishing the Biblical Land of Israel, rebuilding the Holy Temple and ushering in the Messianic World: All of this would have sounded as fantastical fairy tales and unheard-of miracles, if the nations had not have seen and witnessed all of it themselves. No matter where the Israelites go, no matter what they do, - their God is with them. HE helps and defends them in  wars. HE leads and protects them in every day life to prosperity and happiness. HE transformed them spiritually and redeemed them. Everything is possible and achievable for Israelites when they walk with their God and are faithful to HIM and HIS Laws. The Israelites will look forward to conquering the last boundary of God's future, to merit life in the wonderful World-to-Come, the ultimate destination for Humanity, the culmination of the Heavenly Plan of God Almighty for mankind.
