1. Holland-Zebulon in Danger?

Dykes, Polders and Flood Defences

The Netherlands or "Low Countries" are precisely that: fully half of the
country is below sea level and at constant risk of flooding.   An important
part of the history of the Netherlands is the never-ending battle against
incursion from the sea by means of the famous system of dunes, dams and
dikes that have been built to protect it.

It all started in the 19th Century with the Harlemmermeer or Harlem
Lake.  Because of the prevailing southwesterly wind, the lake grew bigger
and bigger, threatening Amsterdam. The Dutch engineers decided to pump it
dry by building a wall, or 'dyke', around the lake with a canal, or
Ringvaart, just behind that. Windmills, and later on steam and electric
pumps, were used to pump the water out of the lake into the Ringvaart which
lead via other canals and rivers to the sea. The land thus reclaimed is
called a polder

In the 1950s, the Dutch so they decided to close off the bay in the centre
of  the Zuiderzee by building a 70 kilometre long dyke through the sea.
This caused the whole Zuiderzee to become a lake: the Ijsselmeer. At first
this was obviously a salt-water lake but through the years it has become a
fresh-water lake. To provide agricultural land  the polder technique was
carried in the Ijsselmeer creating Flevoland, the largest polder in the
Netherlands.

Perhaps no other country in the world will be as affected by global warming
as the Netherlands.  The latest scientific studies estimate that sea levels
will rise at least 25 centimeters (nearly 10 inches) in the next 100 years.
Even more alarming are the predictions of increasing rainfall and violent
weather. Current estimates suggest Holland will experience a 15%-30%
increase in rain over the next century, up from 35 inches a year now. In
addition, forecasters predict powerful tidal surges from severe storms.

The last occasion that the sea launched a fierce attack on the land was on
1 February 1953. Hurricane-force winds and high tides helped the North Sea
flow over Holland's dikes in 100 different places, submerging more than 4
million acres underwater. One-sixth of the country was covered in water,
drowning 2,000 people.  300,000 other residents were affected through
injuries or property damage.  Holland lost 9.4% of its cropland and 3.4% of
pasture. In addition, 35,000 cattle, 100,000 poultry, and 25,000 pigs died.
Damages totalled $300 million.

There was another near miss in 1995.  People were evacuated but the dykes
held - just.  This underlined the urgency of completing the Delta Project,
the plan to construct a network of barriers closing off the estuaries in
the south west. All the estuaries have now been closed, with the exception
of the New Waterway and the Western Scheldt, which remain open to allow
shipping access to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.  The project is
completed by the New Waterway Storm Surge Barrier which, like the Thames
Barrier in England, is designed to protect the Scheldt Delta against storm
surges from the North Sea.

2. John Adams, the Jews, and Zionism
John Adams was the second President of the USA. An interesting article
concerning his attitude to the Jews and to Zionism may be found below. The
article was brought to our attention by David Ben-Ariel

3. The Star of David in Ulster
 From F.
Except for the state of Israel, the only other country in the world that
displays the Davidic symbol in its national flag is Ulster (Northern
Ireland).  Infact that star has offically existed in the latter as an
official emblem longer than the former.

It must be of some significance that the Creator found it necessary, apart
from other signs, to maintain this sign amongst the peoples of this
earth.  Another sign, maybe being, that one of the PM's of the state of
Israel derived from Belfast, confirms certain yet to be unvailed
truths!  Signs are what HE surely sends to assist us all on our journey to
the real truth, regardless of who or what are credited with putting them
there in the first place.

4. Swedish Hero: Raoul Wallenberg
Raoul Wallenberg was a heroic Swedish diplomat who saved the lives of
thousands of Jews in Budapest. He issued protective passports which saved
Jews from deportation, personally removed Jews already on the trains, set
up special hostels to protect the Jews he rescued and helped foil a plan to
blow up the Jewish ghettos. After being taken by the Soviets in 1945, all
trace of him vanished

5. Psalm 11
TO HE WHO GRANTS VICTORY, BY DAVID
[Psalms 11:1] IN THE LORD PUT I MY TRUST: HOW SAY YE TO MY SOUL, FLEE AS A
BIRD TO YOUR MOUNTAIN?

[Psalms 11:2] FOR, LO, THE WICKED BEND THEIR BOW, THEY MAKE READY THEIR
ARROW UPON THE  STRING, THAT THEY MAY PRIVILY SHOOT AT THE UPRIGHT IN
HEART.

[Psalms 11:3] IF THE FOUNDATIONS BE DESTROYED, WHAT CAN THE RIGHTEOUS
DO?
<<FOUNDATIONS>> In Hebrew "Shatot" from the root "Shat" (or "STH") or in
Northern Hebrew "Sat" and meaning "set".
This is probably the root of the English words "set", "sit", "stead",
stood", "stay".
I once heard in the name of the "Chazon Ish" (a great Torah scholar, Rabbi
Avrohom Yeshaya Karelitz, 1878-1953) the question asked about people doing
good and causing others to do good and then there being no apparent
continuation. What is the point of it all? The answer as I remember was
twofold: (a) a good thing is good in itself in its own time and each moment
of its existence is a blessing.
(b) We do not know whether or not there is continuation. Sometimes things
take effect long after their causes have passed away: <<GOD IS IN HEAVEN,
AND THOU UPON EARTH: THEREFORE LET THY WORDS BE FEW>>  [The Preacher:
Ecclesiastes  5:2]. This brings us to the next verse:

[Psalms 11:4] THE LORD IS IN HIS HOLY TEMPLE, THE LORD'S THRONE IS IN
HEAVEN: HIS EYES BEHOLD, HIS EYELIDS TRY, THE CHILDREN OF MEN.
The place of the Almighty is compared to the Temple and indeed the place of
the Holy Temple ON EARTH is ALSO the residence of the
ALMIGHTY.

[Psalms 11:5] THE LORD TRIETH THE RIGHTEOUS: BUT THE WICKED AND HIM THAT
LOVETH VIOLENCE HIS SOUL HATETH.
Some people have accustomed themselves to prefer wicked ways instead of
good ones.

[Psalms 11:6] UPON THE WICKED HE SHALL RAIN SNARES, FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, AND
AN HORRIBLE  TEMPEST: THIS SHALL BE THE PORTION OF THEIR
CUP.

[Psalms 11:7] FOR THE RIGHTEOUS LORD LOVETH RIGHTEOUSNESS; HIS COUNTENANCE
DOTH BEHOLD THE UPRIGHT.
Good comes unto those who do good, sooner or later. If there is a delay
then there is a reason for the delay. We do not have to understand
everything but we should endeavor to comprehend that which we
can.
