Pharaoh's chariots found in Red Sea?
'Physical evidence' of ancient Exodus prompting new look at Old Testament

3. Michael David Cruz: Bat Creek Stone
I believe the "Bat Creek Stone" found in Tennessee (USA) which can be
>translated from ancient Hebrew as "Star of Judah" (carbon dated around AD 70)
>belonged to an ancestor of Simon Bar Kokhba, because several Bar Kokhba coins
>(dated AD 132 - AD 135) which translate "Son of the Star" have been found in
>nearby Kentucky.  If the tribe of Judah existed in Tennessee 2,000 years ago,
>then the descendants of David could be here in abundance today.  Because Simon
>claimed to be Messiah, he could not have made such a claim if he were not a
>direct descendant of King David.  The Bat Creek Stone is currently on
>display at the McClung Museum in Knoxville, TN, USA.

Brit-Am Comment: Not everybody believes that these finds are genuine as may be seen
by visiting the above web-sites. Nevertheless the possibility exists and
should not be dismissed. Even if the above find and others like it are proven to be false that does
not mean that all the others are or that the notion is not correct.

4. Genesis: Only One Author, Study Says

TEL AVIV, Israel (UPI) - A five-year long computer study of the Bible
strongly indicates that one author - and not three as widely held in modern
criticism - wrote the book of Genesis. "The probability of Genesis having
been written by one author is enormously high - 82 percent statistically,"
a member of the research team said in an article published in Wednesday's
Jerusalem Post.

Professor Yehuda Radday, a Bible scholar from the Technion, a Haifa
university, said more than 20,000 words of Genesis were fed into a computer
which conducted a painstaking analysis of its linguistic makeup.

Bible critics widely hold that Genesis had three authors - the Jawhist or
"J" author, the Elohist or "E" author and a priestly writer, dubbed "P".
"We found the J and E narrative to be linguistically indistinguishable,"
Radday told a news conference today. But the P sections differ widely from
them. "This is only to be expected, since dramatic tales and legal
documents must necessarily display different 'behavior,'" he said. "If you
compared love letters and a telephone directory written by the same person,
linguistic analysis would point to different authors."

The team combined statistical and linguistic methods with computer science
and Bible scholarship to reach their conclusions. They used 54 analysis
criteria, including word length, the use of the definite article and the
conjunction "and," richness of vocabulary and transition frequencies
between word categories. "These criteria are a reliable gauge of authorship
because these traits are beyond an author's conscious control and
furthermore are countable," Radday said.

A mathematics expert on the team ran a computer check against classical
German works by Goethe, Herder, and Kant and found that the statistical
probability of their being the sole authors of their own work were on 22
percent, 71 percent and 9 percent respectively. That reinforced their
conclusion that the "82 percent identity between the J and E definitions of
Genesis make their unity very highly probable," Radday said. Radday would
not comment on whether Genesis was written by Moses, or on their apparent
conclusion that God speaks the language of humans, beyond saying, "As
quoted in Genesis, divine speech and human speech are indistinguishable,"
according to the findings.

(The above article appeared in print about 1989) Similar studies applied
both to Genesis and to other Biblical Books with the same results were
conducted in Germany

6. Paranoia and Conditional Apology
Recently I sent out a message about the need for Brit-Am to obtain the
services of an additional server in the USA.
I said that more and more of our messages were returning and the reasons
were that either US servers no longer
were accepting mail from Israel, or were no longer accepting mail from my
particular server, or were no longer accepting
mail from Brit-Am. First of all these suppositions were based on
experiences we had in the past as reported to us by three separate subscribers
who clarified the matter. Then important messages were suddenly not getting
though and we were told that there was a block on our server, then the
messages seemed to be increasing.
At the same time financial and other pressures exist and this seemed to be
an additional hurdle that could be a bit much for us.
It seems however that our suppositions were mistaken.
A member of Brit-Am in the USA took a reasonable percentage of the mail
that was being returned and examined each case.
So far all the answers have been technical ones that could have happened
anyway, anywhere.
There was nothing against Israel. nothing against our server, nothing
against Brit-Am.
We are in the position (this time) of the boy who cried "wolf".
The report:
<<Yair,
<<These addresses:
hotmail, msn, netscape, yahoo, excite are small mail boxes (5.0 mb) and if
the junk is not completely cleared out on a weekly basis the capacity won't
hold any new mail and gets sent back.  My son has a msn address and he also
gets about 40 trash msgs a day - MY msgs to him always come back because he
doesn't clean out his mail box - this involves more than deleting the junk
msgs because once deleted they sit in the trash folder which also uses
space - the trash folder needs to be emptied as well and often - Z's mail
box is too full to receive new mail. Suggestion: We could post something on
the website for these email addresses and suggest they either switch their
addess over to Outlook Express where there is no limit if they want to
receive legitimate email - any POP server can be switched to Outlook
Express.  For the ones that only have access to email via the library -
suggest they empty their trash folder as well as their inbox folder in
order to receive new legitimate mail.

Yair Davidiy comments: I guess I owe the servers in the USA an apology.
Brit-Am does encounter prejudice and opposition. There are people who do
not like us and who have shown themselves liable to do all sorts of things
so our paranoia may be excused or at least forgiven, I hope.

7. Biblical Proofs: The Eagle

The Bald-Headed Eagle

We saw how the geographical extremities of Continental masses
or ends of the earth were connected in Scripture to the Lost Ten Tribes and
their whereabouts in the end times.  One of the passages we referred to was
Isaiah 43;6: <<I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not
back; bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ENDS OF THE EARTH>>.

In commenting on this verse the Midrash (Sifrei, Haazinu 32:11) links the
north country with the return of the exiles and an eagle, the symbol of the
USA: <<AS AN EAGLE STIRRETH UP HER NEST, FLUTTERETH OVER HER YOUNG,
SPREADETH ABROAD HER WINGS, TAKETH THEM, BEARETH THEM ON HER WINGS>>
[Deuteronomy 32:11].

A bald-headed eagle is the symbol of the USA.

Micah chapter one tells of the prophecy that came to him CONCERNING SAMARIA
AND JERUSALEM (1:1) meaning the Lost Ten Tribes and Judah.

He goes on to say:
<<FOR THE TRANSGRESSION OF JACOB IS ALL THIS, AND FOR THE SINS OF THE HOUSE
OF ISRAEL. WHAT IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF JACOB? IS IT NOT SAMARIA? AND WHAT
ARE THE HIGH PLACES OF JUDAH? ARE THEY NOT JERUSALEM?>> [Micah 1:5]. Micah
links Jacob with Samaria. Samaria was a major city in Manasseh and at one
stage the capital of all the Northern Kingdom. In Prophecy Samaria
represents the Lost Ten Tribes in their place of exile. Jacobis linked to
with Samaria. The nickname Yank (American) derives from the Hebrew form of
Jacob. Both Judah and Samaria are being warned here. Then warning is given
to the townships of Aphrah (1:10), Saphir, Zanaan, and Bethezel (1:11),
Maroth (1:12), Lachish (1:13), Oresheth-Gath, Achzib (1:14), Mareshah, and
Adullam (1:16).  There follows a reference to the baldness of an
eagle.

[Micah 1:16] MAKE THEE BALD, AND POLL THEE FOR THY DELICATE CHILDREN;
ENLARGE THY BALDNESS AS THE EAGLE; FOR THEY ARE GONE INTO CAPTIVITY FROM THEE.
All of the above places appear to have belonged to either Benjamin or
Judah. These all appear to be places whose inhabitants were exiled by the
Assyrians and who joined the Ten Tribes in exile. The Lost Ten Tribes also
include many from the southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin just as Judah
eventually included many from The Lost Ten Tribes.
<<ENLARGE THY BALDNESS AS THE EAGLE>>: The bald-headed eagle is a symbol of
the USA.

The eagle in Scripture in some cases can symbolize the enemies of Israel:
(Deuteronomy 28:4, Habakkuk 1:8, Obadiah 1:4 Lamentations 4:19 Jeremiah
4:13 Jeremiah 49:16). Historically the eagle was the symbol of the Roman
Empire, of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, of the German Reich, of Poland, and
probably of other nations as well most of whom were much of the time
antagonistic to the Jewish and Israelite peoples.

The eagle can also represent the God of Israel, the righteous amongst the
people of Israel and their salvation (Exodus 19:4 Deuteronomy 32:11 Isaiah 40:31).

The eagle is one of the four creatures in the chariot of Ezekiel (1:10).

Ezekiel chapter 17 speaks of two eagles both representing aspects of the
exile of Israel and Judah or of Judah only.

At all events Micah 1:16 speaks of the baldness of the eagle in connection
with the exile of townships of Judah who were about to join the Lost Ten
Tribes in Exile and be considered as part of them.

To my mind this is significant but others may not be so impressed. At all
events it is one indication amongst very many others and should be
considered as part of the whole.
