Joseph made the Israelites promise to take the bones of his body with them when they returned to the Land of Canaan. In Hebrew this connotes retaining something of the essence of Joseph. Jacob gave life and vitality even when in Egypt. The qualities of Jacob and Joseph where to be needed by the Israelites in their Places of Exile. The Israelites were to carry out the tasks required of them. They were to be known as GOMER and as Gomerites i.e. Cimmerians. They were to fulfill their destiny.
....In the above passage the Rabbi emphasizes that the Israelites as associated with Joseph were to be known as Gomer and Gomerites.
