Dear Yair,

As for "ethnic cleansing" I would like to say that Jews have nothing to do with that. When they would prefer the Arabs or Moslims to leave Israel this has NOTHING to do with the ethnicity of those peoples. It has simply to do with the fact that they are a deadly enemy.A daily declared deadly enemy. Israel would prefer to live with deadly enemies OUTSIDE of her borders. What has this to do with ethnic cleansing, ( who ever used this horrible expression in the first place)? There exists to-day a whole terminology which is fighting the Jews only with words. Jews do not have to participate in the use of those distortions.

"Honor Killings" and Terrorism
Question:
In the past you have made negative allusions to honor killings amongst the Arabs.
You ignore the fact that this is part of their culture.
What about "crimes of passion" in the west?
Is this not the same thing?
Honor killings are not peculiar to Islam but occur elsewhere as well.
You seem to imply that honor killing are connected to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. What connection is there?
Don't you think that this is a rather underhanded attempt on your part exploit cultural differences in order to depict your enemy in a negative light?

Crimes of Passion
Crimes of Passion in the west usually refers to husbands or male lovers avenging themselves on male rivals or on their female spouse.
Honor Killings in Muslim Societies including the Palestinians involve members of the family killing females for offences of honor.
The members of the family involved may be the father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, etc. The husband is seldom an active party.
The offences of honor include inappropriate dress, staying out late, sexual affairs, e-mail affairs, getting raped, being the victim of incest, being seduced, scandalizing the neighbors, etc.
The victim is nearly always female.
This is an entirely different pattern from Crimes of Passion.
Honor Killings do not happen in the west.
When was the last time an Irishman killed his sister for going out with boys?
And if he did would he get off with it, i.e. would he receive a light sentence or no sentence at all?
Would he respected by his community for what he did?
Would the neighbors have expected him to so act and almost demanded it?
It is a good thing to make allowances for cultural difference but what they do to their sisters they will also do to yours.
One more point.
In Crimes of passion in the west the male lover is as liable to be the victim as the female paramour.
In honor killings it is nearly always the female who is the victim.
There are cases of girls being raped or incestuously exploited by their fathers and then killed in an "honor" killing by members of their family.
The males who actually defiled the women usually get away with it.

Honor Killings and Islam
Honor Killings are an outcome of Islamic culture and tradition.
By analogy we have the festival of Christmas.
Some Christian Fundamentalists do not keep Christmas because they say it has pagan origins.
They are probably right.
Nevertheless the celebration of Christmas may in our time be considered a Christian custom because Christian celebrate it and have assimilated it.
Whether or not honor killings SHOULD be considered intrinsically Islamic becomes a moot point since in practice that is what they are.

Honor Killings and Terrorism
Cases exist of Arab women being sexually abused or otherwise "losing their honor".
They are then blackmailed into participating in terrorist actions.
In at least one case after the female agreed to take part in a terrorist action the sexual exploitation continued at the hands of her handlers.
Just as in the west some women are forced into prostitution in Moslem societies they are being
forced into terrorism. The methods are the same.

Connection with the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict
The question of honor killings is connected tot he struggle between Islam and the West.
Like it or not Israel has been pushed to the forefront of this struggle.
Israel has a conflict with the Palestinians.
The Palestinians are Muslims.
The Islamic world on the whole and especially the Arabic-speaking section has thrown its weight behind the Palestinians or so it would seem.
Actually our main enemies are the Muslim Brotherhood (Egypt)-Taliban (Al Quada)-Wahhabi(Saudi) Axis.
Islam has also began an encroachment on the west using its immigrants to Europe and its oil-money in the US academia and media.
These Islamic forces have made the struggle against Israel the spearhead of their overall onslaught.
Israel has been pushed to the front and must defend itself and in doing so it is incidentally fighting in defense of Western Civilization and Judea-Christian values even if most "Christians" no longer believe in them.
Pro-Arab and pro-Islamic propaganda is either directed against Israel or that is its implication.
Information in the opposite direction (i.e. critical of Islam as it is put into practice and not necessarily how it could be in theory) also often has as its intention an indirect defense of Israel.

Another method is for a member of al-Qaeda to marry a woman and then dishonour her in some way, such as letting someone else rape her. "This would leave her with no choice but to end her life".

(IsraelNN.com) Conservative American talk show host Dennis Prague told Jewish Republican leaders, "They'd still be gassing Jews" if liberals and peace activists had their way. "The left does not understand that Auschwitz was not liberated by peace activists," he said at a reception for Republican governors at the Republican national convention.

Prager also told the politicians, "Gandhi said to the Jews, 'Do not resist Hitler.' Gandhi did a lot of great work in India. You know why? Because when you advocate peaceful resistance against the British, it works. Peaceful resistance against evil does not work."

Several Jews objected to Prager's analogy to the Holocaust, but he said if anyway was offended, "That's fine with me, so what? Auschwitz was liberated by military people, not by poets and not by peace activists. If one is no longer allowed to say that, we are in a very scary period."
