The Offspring of Noah: Shem.
SHEM (SEM) means 'name', 'fame', 'renown'.
Twenty six progenitors descended from the oldest son of Noah, Shem. The geographical regions of their settlements are the Northern area of Persian Gulf, lands of Syria, Chaldea, Palestine (together with Canaanites, Phoenicians, Hittites) and parts of Assyria, Persia, and the Arabian Peninsula. This constitutes the so called 'Middle Zone.' The attributed colors of skin are 'white' and 'olive'.
Shem begat five sons: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram (Genesis 19:22).
Elam - ('eternity'), Arabia;
Asshur -('strong'), Assyria, who became modern day Germany ('!);
Arphaxad - Israelites (Hebrews), Ishmaelites, Ammonites, Moabites, Edomites;
-Lud - ('strife'), Lydians and other related groups in Asia Minor;
Aram - ('exalted'), Aramaic people: Armenia, Mesopotamia, Syria.
Some expositors believe that the whole of the European peoples descended from Shem. Others claim that the Anglo-Saxons are the descendants of Shem. It is also said that Tuitsch, a German patriarch, is none other than Shem himself, implying that Germany is a country of Semitic origin. The Muslims insist that Shem was the father of the Arabs, the Jews, the Persians, and the Greeks. There are many different theories, including those which said that the descendants of Shem possessed the territories from the Orient to India and the Caspian Sea.
Pakistan, India, Bangladesh- are peoples from Shem through Joktan and his son Ophir.
Even nations in Africa, such as Yemen (in Arabia opposite Africa), Eritrea and Ethiopia are claimed to be of combined Hamito-Semitic ancestry.
In the Scripture there are few hints as to how God differentiates between the descendants of Japheth, Ham and Shem. It is commonly agreed by cholars that Japheth is associated with light colored skin or reddish-white.
(Proponents of the Mongoloid Theory changed Japheth's color from 'fair' or 'reddish' to a 'Yellow skin race').
Ham was given very dark or black skin colors.
Shem is distinguished by tawny-white, medium dark or olive colors.
