Overview
"The Tribes. The Israelite Origins of Western Peoples" was first
published in 1993. Since then it has been through several editions. This
present 4th edition contains additional information and editorial improvements.
Nevertheless the overall presentation and the basic message remains the same.
The Lost Tribes of Israel are today to be found mainly amongst Western Peoples.
It is there that they came to fruition as Israelite entities and achieved their
Tribal expression as had been prophesied. This work proves it. "The Tribes" is
divided into four sections.
Part One: Movement to the West.
Abraham the first Hebrew was promised that from his seed would
emerge a great and mighty nation (Genesis 18:18-19) through whom all the nations
of the earth would be blessed (Genesis 12:2-3). From Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
emerged the Twelve Tribes of Israel. They split into two separate nations: The
Kingdom of Israel in the north consisted of Ten Tribes. In the south was the
Kingdom of Judah. Later, the Assyrians conquered the Kingdom of Israel and took
the Ten Tribes into exile where they lost consciousness of their ancestry. They
became identified as part of the Celtic, Cimmerian, Scythian, and Gothic peoples
and with others. They moved into Western Europe. Meanwhile from Judah, Benjamin,
Levi, and minority remnants of the other Tribes emerged the Jewish People. The
Jews were also expelled from the Land and exiled. Centuries of persecution
culminated in the Holocaust. The British and Americans fought Germany and thus
saved the Jews from intended extermination. Modern Zionism and the return of the
Jews to the Land of Israel owes something to support and encouragement from
western Gentile nations, especially the English-speaking ones. These are in part
descendants of Israelites. Despite much ambivalence and the presence of Jew
hatred we show that the Israelite ancestry of the said peoples resulted in a
pro-Jewish attitude. We also show how these people brought great benefits and a
humane civilizing influence to the whole of mankind.
The physical type of many of the Ancient Israelites was similar to
that of Western Peoples as shown by Biblical references and archaeological
findings. We deal with this matter in some detail due to its importance and the
interest it arouses.
Historically, the Assyrians exiled a portion of the Israelites by sea directly
to the west. These went to Spain and other regions. Those in Spain moved
northwards and into the British Isles. Most of the exiles had not been taken
directly overseas but rather overland into the Assyrian Empire. In these regions
they became associated (along possibly with others) with the Cimmerian and
Scythian federations. Descriptions in the Bible and Talmudic Literature of the
Ten Tribes, concerning their locations and activities, correspond to what we
know about the Cimmerians and Scythians. The movements of different Cimmerian and
Scythian Israelite elements to the west is described. They were to merge with
peoples of Celtic and Northern culture. The Celtic and Northern languages as we
now know them contain significant Hebrew infusion and sub-structure.
Part Two. Identification of the Tribes.
We trace Israelite elements to the west and in many cases are
able to identify which Israelite tribes they belonged to.
Reuben became part of the Galatian Gauls and the Ribuari Franks of France.
Gad gave rise to the original Goths and peoples who settled mainly in
Scandinavia especially Sweden.
Naphtali became known as the Nephtalite Huns and moved to Norway along with
other tribal groups from Israel.
Dan is found in the Danes of Denmark though contingents from Dan were located in
the British Isles, in Wales, and Ireland.
Judah became the present-day Jews. Prophecies concerning Judah fit the Jews of
today.
Simeon and Levi were scattered but we find recognizable contingents from them
amongst the other Tribes.
Benjamin as well as being amongst the Jews is also recognizable in the Belgae
and Normans.
The Tribe of Asher became the Vandals as well as Celtic groups that settled in
Scandinavia, Scotland, and particularly Ireland.
Issacher moved to Switzerland and Finland.
Zebulon is found amongst the Dutch.
These Tribal identifications are based on historical sources, the
names of ethnic groups, national characteristics, and Biblical parallels.
Part Three: Joseph, Proofs and
Conclusions.
Rabbinical Commentaries concerning Joseph and the Ten Tribes
are reflected in present-day reality. The Blessings to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
culminated in a special extra measure pertaining to Joseph. Joseph was divided
into the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh. Groups that in history may be
identified as pertaining to Joseph moved mainly to the British Isles. From there
they colonized North America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Concerning the rest of Europe, we may determine a distinction based on
geographical provenance and social class between migrants to the USA and those
who remained behind. This (along with other evidence) helps us identify the USA
as the Tribe of Manasseh. Britain and her daughters are Ephraim.
Part Four: The Israelite Nations in
General.
All of the Israelite Tribes were blessed. This is reflected
in Official Statistics comparing different countries. In all measures concerning
human happiness, welfare, and well-being Israelite nations invariably top the
list and often dominate it altogether! The Tribal identifications and the way
they are geographically arranged parallel how they were in Biblical Times in the
Land of Israel. All of these findings have great importance. The identity of the
Ten Tribes in our age has special significance for each and every one of us.
