Why You Should Support the State of Israel!

The Bible Says the World Was Created for the Sake of Israel!
The Bible beings "In the Beginning God created".
In Hebrew it says: "Breishit bara".
This is in fact an unusual grammatical construction in Hebrew. It is not the usual Hebrew one would expect to make such a statement. The Midrash points out this unusual use of Hebrew. The famous Commentator Rashi quotes this Midrash.
The first words of the Bible Hebrew can be understood to say not necessarily "In the Beginning God created" but rather "For the sake of the Beginning" i.e. for the sake of the Primary Principle. This is what the first words in the Bible "Breishit" (Be-raishit) mean. "Reishit " means Primary Principle. Elsewhere Israel is called the Reishit, the beginning i.e. the Primary Principle.

[Jeremiah 2:3] ISRAEL WAS HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD, AND THE FIRSTFRUITS ["Reishit Tevuoto"] OF HIS INCREASE: ALL THAT DEVOUR HIM SHALL OFFEND; EVIL SHALL COME UPON THEM, SAITH THE LORD.

Here Jeremiah calls Israel "Reishit". Israel is the "Reishit", the First Principle for which the World was created. God created the world for the sake of Israel. God created the Land of Israel for the People of Israel. The Midrash says that the expression "BeReishit" comes to tell us that God created the world and HE decides what must be done. He gave the Land of Canaan firstly to the Canaanites and then after that HE gave it to the People of Israel. God owns the Land says the Midrash. The heathen nations cannot call the Hebrews "robbers" since they received the Land of Canaan i.e. of The Land of Israel from the Almighty who owns it.
[This Midrash was quoted by Rashi who is the most famous and popular of all Rabbinical Commentators. Rashi quotes it in commentating on the first verse of the Bible which was often the first portion of the Bible with the Commentary of Rashi that students learned. It follows that this particular quotation from Rashi is very well known.]

Israel has begun the ingathering of Judah.
The land of Israel is a special Land. This is the Land where Divine Providence is felt more strongly. The Eyes of God are upon this land.

[Deuteronomy 11:12] A LAND WHICH THE LORD THY GOD CARETH FOR: THE EYES OF THE LORD THY GOD ARE ALWAYS UPON IT, FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE YEAR.

The land of Israel has special qualities of its own. All Israelites should be here but for the moment they cannot be. Those who can be here are Jewish. Not all Jews are here and not all Jews will come here for all kinds of reasons. Those Jews who do come here are preparing the way for the others and should be helped. They are also preparing the way for the Ten Tribes.

Israel Embodies the Ingathering of Judah.
In Israel live more than 5 million Jews. Jews from all over the world, from many different backgrounds and cultures now live in Israel in relative harmony despite some tensions and social dislocation that to a degree are largely inevitable. On the whole the Jews all live together well, work together, learn together, and serve in the Armed Forces together.  Those who do not get along in Israel go to the USA and get along with other Israelites. The State of Israel is not necessarily for everyone. It can be difficult for some at times.  I myself have some of my children in the USA, so I know. Nevertheless Israel serves as a place of refuge for Jews from other countries. Israel does provide protection to Jews, it helps Jews, and it is a source of self-respect for Jews all over the world.

Israel Restores the Self-Respect of Jews and All Well-Meaning People
During the Holocaust Jews were lead like sheep to the slaughter. Six million were first degraded and then killed without mercy. They had no choice. There was nothing much they could do about it. Other people in similar situations also acted similarly. For example, about two million Russian Prisoners-of War, let themselves be killed and starved to death by the Germans. These were all young males, in the prime of their life and trained to fight. And they did fight. The Russians were valiant and proficient fighters. It was largely due to Russian fighters that Germany was beaten. Nevertheless these same fighters when taken prisoner did almost nothing when the Germans killed them. The Jews also did very little. The Jews consisted of women and children and the sick and elderly and a civilian population that for centuries had grown accustomed to be persecuted by the Gentiles. They did not have a tradition of self-defense.  Their only chance of survival for centuries had been not to resist persecution but rather to bear it out and hope for better times. They also, strange to say despite all the evidence, usually did not believe they were going to be killed. They always had the hope that they would be kept alive. The Germans knew this and exploited it. The Germans used psychological warfare against the Jews. First the Germans systematically caused the Jews to lose their self-respect. They then killed them while till the last minute leaving them a small hope that they would be kept alive. Even the final gassing places were they were put to death were disguised as showers for communal cleansing. Despite the fact that the Jews cannot be blamed for not resisting the Germans more than they did, and nor should they blame themselves, the shame remains.
A parallel is a rape situation. When a woman is, God forbid, raped she is liable to go through a traumatic period of self-recrimination afterwards. Even though she probably had no choice she is still liable to blame herself afterwards. Studies show that if the woman resisted or cried for help she will feel less guilty afterwards even though the effect was the same. A woman who is attacked should cry for help [Deuteronomy 22:24].
The Jews after the Holocaust and the pogroms and persecutions that went before it faced a similar situation. They went though a national trauma. The State of Israel and the Israeli Army, Air Force, secret service, and all the rest help the Jews regain their self-respect.
This is for the good not only for the Jews but for all Israelites and Bible-believers everywhere. The honor of the Jews in this world is the honor of the Bible and in a sense of God Almighty in the eyes of mankind. We need Jewish self-assertion and therefore should encourage it to the extent that we are able to do so.

Torah Study Give Merit to All Israel and Humanity in General!
In Israel more Jews study Torah both full-time and part-time than at any other time in history. This is the will of the Almighty. We are commanded to study the Torah.

[Joshua 1:8] THIS BOOK OF THE LAW SHALL NOT DEPART OUT OF THY MOUTH; BUT THOU SHALT  MEDITATE THEREIN DAY AND NIGHT, THAT THOU MAYEST OBSERVE TO DO ACCORDING TO ALL THAT IS WRITTEN THEREIN: FOR THEN THOU SHALT MAKE THY WAY PROSPEROUS, AND THEN THOU SHALT HAVE GOOD SUCCESS.

Not everyone can do this. It requires a certain commitment and psychological application. Those who can do it should be helped to do so. Jews who study the Torah full-time are the emissaries of all Israel. They bring merit and a blessing on all of us and on all the world. The State of Israel pays a small but significantly helpful monthly sum to Jews who study Torah full time. The State of Israel also helps the families of scholars of full-time Torah students in other ways. Learning Torah in the Land of Israel is better than learning it outside of Israel. Learning Torah in the Land of Israel ultimately leads to keeping the Commandments as they were meant to be kept.

A related issue is the revival of the Hebrew Language as a living tongue. Zionism and the State of Israel deserve much of the credit for this development. The day-by-day Speaking of Hebrew together with Jews living in the Land and ruling over it induces a heightened understanding of Biblical Values and a return to Bible Thought.

Commandment to Live in the State of Israel and to be Independent
The State of Israel enables those who can stay here, be here. If the country was ruled by foreigners many Jews would not be able or not want to be here. By being in Israel one is enabled to fulfill one's potential.
A religious Jew who follows the Law of Moses is commanded to live in the Land of Israel.

YE SHALL INHERIT THEIR LAND, AND I WILL GIVE IT UNTO YOU TO POSSESS IT, A LAND THAT FLOWETH WITH MILK AND HONEY: I
AM THE LORD YOUR GOD, WHICH HAVE SEPARATED YOU FROM OTHER PEOPLE  [Leviticus 20:24].

Not all Jews recognize this law as applicable today under present conditions. Amongst those who do recognize it not all can keep it. Those Jews who do keep this commandment and do live in the Land of Israel are atoning for those who do not. Jews living in the Land of Israel should be encouraged and helped.

Religious Jews, ordinary Jews, and Israelites in general are commanded to be independent when they can be. They are forbidden to give control over themselves up to foreigners.

The Bible says:
[Deuteronomy 17:15] THOU SHALT IN ANY WISE SET HIM KING OVER THEE, WHOM THE LORD THY GOD SHALL CHOOSE: ONE FROM AMONG THY BRETHREN SHALT THOU SET KING OVER THEE: THOU MAYEST NOT SET A  STRANGER OVER THEE, WHICH IS NOT THY BROTHER.

The Sages inherited traditions from Moses. They were also empowered by the Bible  [Deuteronomy 17:8-13] to decided how the Bible should be interpreted. The Sages said that the above verse applied not only to a king but to all positions of authority [that in effect are like those of a king but in a smaller sphere]. We are forbidden to give control over our lives and government to non-Israelites. Where there is no choice,  if non-Israelites are already ruling over us we do not have to rebel against them. In most cases we probably should obey them. Where there is a choice however we are forbidden to give up control of our communal existence and political independence to foreigners.

The combination of these two principles: (a) An obligation to live in Israel and  (b) an obligation to be independent taken together, in effect as afar as a Jew is concerned, mean supporting the Principles of Zionism.

Israel as a Catalyst for Israelite Consciousness
Israel has helped catalyze the situation. Nations that have a significant number of citizens descended from the Lost Ten Tribes are usually those nations that support Israel or historically have been less against the State of Israel than other nations have been. At the least those Israelite nations that support Israel give expression to their innate Israelite ancestry. Nations or individuals (that are even in part descended from Israel) that do not support the State of Israel in effect betray their Israelite ancestry. The existence of the State of Israel is one of the reasons that many Israelites who are Christians have begun to return to their Hebrew roots. This receives expression through some finding their ancestry in the Lost Tribes of Israel. Others express their aroused Hebrew consciousness by adopting Biblical and Jewish religious customs alongside their own Christian worship. Still others express themselves by vigorous support for the State of Israel. Those who are really aroused strive in all of the said directions. The basic instinct behind these movements is the same. It is the feeling of a call of Israelite Ancestry. The existence of the State of Israel is one of the factors that caused and strengthens this arousal.

Israel is a Good Investment.
The USA helped Israel a lot. Israel turned out on the whole to be a good investment. Israel is now a world power in its own right. Israel has proven itself im many fields on a world scale, e.g. in agriculture, medicine, armament, computerization, and electronics. Israel has become a blessing to others. Israel serves as a forward base for the USA and a frontline bastion for Western Survival. The USA in other ways has also benefited from Israel. The USA now has a cutting edge over the rest of the world in its weapons systems, in its satellite and computer technology, communications, scientific industrialization, agricultural development and so on. In many cases these advantage are due to some degree to Israeli initiatives and improvements on what the USA gave Israel. Even on the prosaic ordinary material level the USA has been blessed a thousand times over for all that it helped Israel.

Returning to the Bible and the Beginning of Redemption
The State of Israel represents a return to the Bible. It is the fulfillment of Biblical Principles. It lays the groundwork for a future fulfillment of Biblical injunctions. Even though many Jews today in Israel may not be as religious as they should be they are helping to prepare the way.
All those who believe in God and the Bible and in common goodness should support the State of Israel.

The State of Israel represents the Ingathering of Judah who is preparing the way for the Rest of the Israelites. Judah is preparing the way for the Ten Tribes.

We need the State of Israel for our own sakes. It reflects something deep within us. The State of Israel exists for our sakes as well as that of the Jews. The State of Israel is an Israelite expression and an Israelite investment. It is part of us. It exists for us. We need to support Israel. The Almighty wants us to support Israel.
