1. Joseph Crary: Dramatic Changes in the population of Germany in the 1st Century BCE.
[Germanic-L] Re: Ptolemy's "Geography" deciphering
this is a very complex issue. What happened in Greater Germania in the 1st century BC is nearly all of the very large late Latene Celtic population centers were collapsing on the one hand due to Roman expansion and on the other early Swabian expansion. Near the end of this process it appears very confused. Rome extended its authority over the Rhine to the Elbe over groups which were both pro- and anti-Roman. In contrast the Romans also conduced the massive relocation of pro-Roman Celtic population (possibly 1 to 2 million people) from the east bank of the Rhine to the west. Possibly another million exited from the north bank of the Danube to the south. As you know early in the 1st century AD the Romans were reversed, yet the Romano-Germanic war continued off and on for several more decades. At the end of this period the only significant population centers remaining within Greater Germania were located along the Wadden Sea coastal area [coast of Netherlands, Germany and Denmark] and in Jutland [Denmark]. In the Swabian, Vandalic, and Lugian controlled areas, as was the relatively common tradition, there were no towns or villages and very few individual settlements the size of a hamlet. As well defensive architecture was extremely uncommon.

2. Did King Ahab Complete the Apostasy?
Radak:
1-Kings 21:25 Only not like Ahab. Unlike Jeroboam and those who came after him for whom, even though they worshipped the bull-calves, their intention was to Heaven. Ahab however worshipped the baal and the asherah like the other nations (Gentiles) ...

3. Philistine Minoans in Frisia (Scheleswig in North Germany just south of Denmark)

http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2008/08/minoans-in-germany.html
Article in German.
Based on the Google translation the article seems to say:
...ceramics from  Crete  in the 1300s and 1200s BCE  were found. ...on the North Frisian.
The findings were lower than a Bronze Age peat layer, which had probably been formed in 1200 BC. The peat layer had been worn away by settlement in the Middle Ages but in places where house mounds had been raised the peat remained and it was in one of these that the Minoan pottery remains were found.... The worthless utilitarian pottery was almost certainly part of the ship equipment.
This shows that it is unlikely that the items had arrived by trade but rather had been brought by the Monoans themselves.
The finds included ceramics from the Levant (area of Israel and its surroundings) and also from Minoan Crete -
Containers for drinking and eating, lance tips, incense, lapis lazuli (perhaps from Afghanistan?), and a seal with a linear-A inscription were among the items.
Linear -A was an ancient Crete script that Cyrus Gordon claimed was used for a West Semitic language similar to Hebrew. Other researchers however disagree.
