Alec Garrard, 78, has dedicated a massive 33,000 hours to constructing the ancient Herod's Temple , which measures a whopping 20ft by 12ft.
 
The pensioner has hand-baked and painted every clay brick and tile and even sculpted 4,000 tiny human figures to populate the courtyards.
 
Historical experts believe the model is the best representation in the world of what the Jewish temple actually looked like and it has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the globe.
 
But Mr Garrard, who started the elaborate project in his 40's, says his masterpiece will not be finished in his lifetime.
"I've always loved making models and as I was getting older I started to think about making one big project which would see me through to the end of my life," he said.

2. Historical Anecdote Of Jordan's Red Soils May Offer New Antibiotic

ScienceDaily (May 21, 2009) ? Historical anecdotes of the red soils from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan tell of people using the soils to treat skin infections and diaper rash. A multinational group of researchers suggest the healing power may be due to antibiotic-producing bacteria they have found living in the soil. This discovery may ultimately lead to new antibiotic treatments against harmful pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus.

The increasing incidence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, especially the methicillin-resistant S. aureus in communities and hospitals, has placed great emphasis on the need for new antimicrobial agents to treat infectious diseases. In an attempt to uncover such resources researchers are exploring some historically recognized natural remedies which are still being used in some communities as an alternative to expensive pharmaceutical drugs.

In the study researchers collected samples of red soils from various geographic locations throughout the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and inoculated them with Micrococcus luteus and S. aureus. Results showed the bacteria were rapidly killed. Additionally, over a three-week incubation period, researchers found that the number of antibiotic-producing bacteria (specifically actinomycetes, Lysobacter spp. and Bacillus spp.) increased and high antimicrobial activity was observed. Further, no myxobacteria or lytic bacteriophages with activity against M. luteus or S. aureus were detected in the soils before or after inoculation and incubation.

"These data provide a rationale for the traditional use of Jordan's red soils for the treatment of skin infections, including diaper rash," say the researchers. "We hypothesize that the application of red soils to an infected area of skin (i.e. inoculation) leads to the proliferation of bacteria that produce antibiotic compounds, killing the infecting skin microbiota."

Much of Jordan was part of the Ancient Israelite region known as Gilead.

3. Question on Lilit and other fanciful beings
 

Dear sirs:

...I'm a seeker of Torah, here in Puerto Rico and Chashem have honor me with His Word.  I have many books that during my life i collected.  My Jewish Encyclopedia is one of my source that open my mind to new level of information.  Please, i'll like to have real investigative data from the subject of Lilith and why according to some scholars, they refer to a meteorite from Venus or others point to the Arab Muslim main mesquite rock (meteorite) in Jerusalem.  According to some tradition, they say that "she" was the first wife of Adam.  According to the language Adam is a compound name that AE= the first letter of Chashem, dam= is blood and H= the last letter of Chashem; in other word, the the linage or the bloodstream of decendant of people with the submission to Chashem.  Not like some low level knowlege that Adam was a first name of the first men in the earth.  What is the real knowlege of Lilith and why some other religions like pagan, vampires, wiccan and other, refer to her as a mother of demons ......

Your question suggests that you have drawn not only from Jewish sources but also from pagan, Gnostic,
New Age, and other ones.
We would suggest that you keep away from such teachings since they are often deceiving and harmful.
Our studies ignore the figure of Lilit and all other non-Biblical extrusions.
Lilit belongs to Jewish folklore which sometimes can be helpful and at other times reflects the historical surroundings of the Jews at the time in question.
Our attitude is to learn the Bible according to the simple meaning. We aim for the literal direct message as much as possible.
Our Biblical studies take account of the literal Hebrew words and expressions and their meaning. We also refer to Rabbinical commentaries and the historical and scientific backgrounds were pertinent. In all such cases however the aim is nearly always to throw light on the Biblical Verses as they stand and their meaning.
